Guitar Course 1: Basic Chords, Strumming and Reading Tablature
This course covers all the information a beginning guitar player needs to know to become familiar with the instrument. The 18 most often used chords are taught and the melody lines are written in tablature, which is the most common form of writing for guitar. Basic strum patterns are introduced also. This comprehensive course is perfect for learning the fundamentals of playing guitar.
Guitar Course 2: Sight Reading and Elements of Music
This course covers the elements of musicianship. Musical notation is the traditional way of communicating music ideas. The course covers how to read music and play it on the guitar. This complete course prepares the student to be proficient as a sight reader. The elements of timing and playing in various keys is also taught. The many details relating to this topic are demonstrated in a clear manner.
Guitar Course 3: Basic Theory and Finger Picking Arpeggios
Theory explains why things sound the way they do and organizes music into clearly defined areas. Ear training is a means of developing the ear to hear subtle differences in music. Improvising is the ability to make up musical phrases instantly. A basic introduction to each of these areas of music is taught in this course.
Guitar Course 4: 12 Bar Blues Music Styling
This course goes into a detailed study of playing guitar in relation to modern music. The roots of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, and related styles originate with the 12 bar stylings. This is an excellent course with very interesting material.
Guitar Course 5: Classical Repertoire
This course uses popular Classical songs for guitar. They are written in both tablature and standard notation.
Piano Course 1: Basic Elements of Playing the Piano, and How To Read Music Notation
This course covers all the information a beginner piano player needs to know to become familiar with the instrument. C major scale and the relative chords are introduced. All music is notated and can be accessed by video: Hear it and See it! A basic chord progression is introduced in CFG. This comprehensive course is perfect for learning the fundamentals of playing the piano.
Piano Course 2: Reading Music and the Elements of Music
This course covers the elements of musicianship by teaching students to read musical notation for piano playing. Musical notation is the standard way of reading music. The elements of rhythm, harmony, and dynamics are taught in this classroom. The many details relating to this topic are demonstrated.
Piano Course 3: Elements of Theory and Creating Your Own Piece
Theory explains why music sounds the way it does, and organizes it into clearly defined areas. Students will be taught how to create a piece using a simple melody and rhythm, as well as how to harmonize over it. The basic introduction to each of these areas of music is taught in this course.
Piano Course 4: Intro to Blues Styling
This course covers the elements for playing beginner style blues. This course covers various major and minor scale including the harmonic, melodic and blues scales. The 12 bar blues progression and chords used in this style are taught, as well as the opportunity to create a melody. The elements of swing rhythm, harmony, and the dynamics of playing the blues are taught in this classroom. Course 4 focuses on blues yet includes a repertoire of contemporary to classical to improve the students playing.
Piano Course 5: Intro to Jazz
This course covers the elements for playing beginner style jazz. The complete course covers various major and minor scales including the harmonic and melodic scales. The elements for playing jazz such as the II-V- I progression, dominant 7th chords with the inversions, and scale tone triads are taught. The elements of reading and understanding a chord chart and the feel for the swing rhythm and harmonizing over a melody are also taught in this classroom.
